As of October 2004, through the request of Milford's new Principal Nathaniel Gibson, The Milford Alumni Association was started. This organization is open to all Alumni that wish to participate.

In a time when the Baltimore Public School System is struggling to give our students proper education, resources and facilities, we as Public School Alumni should feel compelled to take the reigns and be a blessing to our Future...our children!

We realize the family structure of old is no longer in existence. There are children coming up in single and no family homes all around us. Sometimes the only family and friends they know are in schools, churches and other community groups, and sometimes in a negative environment such as gangs. It's time for us to take back our schools, one at a time, piece by piece.

The Milford Mill Alumni Association is just one of many that will be developed in the coming years. We appreciate all donations towards events that will in turn raise the funds needed to make a difference.

MISSION STATEMENT:


The Milford Alumni Association is an organization created to help graduates work together for the prosperity and advancement of graduates, students, and Milford Mill Academy.

GOALS:

• Bring graduates back together and keep track of alumni
• Become advocates and mentors for students
• Fund-raising (Stadium Project, Auditorium renovation, Library expansion, Annual scholarships)
• Assist classes in organizing reunions

PROJECTS BEFORE US:

• Sports Stadium (2005)
• Auditorium Renovation (2006)
• Scholarships (Annually)
• Mentoring and Speaking w/ students (NOW)

FUND-RAISING EVENTS:

• Gatherings / Reunions
• Sports and Recreational Events
• Baltimore Jazz Review Series (Annually)
• Gala (Annually)

COMMITTEES:
• Budget Committee: to keep accounts of all revenues and expenses, to work out annual budgets, and budgets for special events, and to find ways to keep costs down. (Accountants, CPAs, Book keepers)
• By-Laws Committee: to assist in drafting the by-laws, constitution and mission statement (Attorneys, etc.)
• Public Relations Committee: to assist in publishing and distributing the newsletter, press releases, advertisements, and the creation of other public relations literature. (Journalists, writers, media, web developers)
• Membership Committee: to update and maintain a current graduate mailing list, develop ideas and strategies to increase membership and solicit members through mailings, newsletters, websites, and publicity in local media.
• Fund-raising Committee: to come up with ideas on how to raise money for events, school projects, scholarships, etc. (Grant writers included)
• Events Team: to assist in coordinating and carrying out all events. (From planning to clean-up)
• Awards Committee: to coordinate an annual awards event, such as honoring individuals and students for special achievements and recognizing special volunteers.
• Student Liaison Committee: to assist Ms. Opher with internal school and student projects including, but not limited to, speaking to students. (Everyone!!)

MEMBERSHIP FEES:
• $20 ANNUALLY
• $200 LIFETIME MEMBER

Membership fees are one of the ways we will continue to have working capital for events, and other projects besides major fund-raising efforts. Vested members get discounts on every event and item that may be sold as a fund-raiser.
